Catalog Standards (ACES)

ACES – the Aftermarket Catalog Enhanced Standard - is the North American Industry Standard for the management and exchange of automotive catalog applications data. With ACES, suppliers can publish automotive data with standardized vehicle attributes, parts classifications and qualifier statements. ACES also prescribes a machine-readable format (XML) for trading partners to use in exchanging vast amounts of catalog information electronically

The ACES Version 3.0 documentation package includes the ACES Data Delivery Specification, XML schema and example, database designs and field definitions for the Vehicle Configuration database (VCdb), the Parts Categorization database (PCdb) and the Qualifier database (Qdb). With the exception of the new features, ACES XML is backwards compatible with earlier versions of the specification

Version 3.0 of the ACES specification was released in January 2010. This version of the standard includes a number of enhancements requested by Industry to support the growing demand for complete application catalog content. These enhancements include: support for Mexican vehicle information; support for Othermotive segments of products including Power Sports, Lawn & Garden equipment, Class 8 trucks and Farm & Agriculture equipment; support for delivery of multiple Brands of product in a single ACES file; support for referencing Power Output (Horsepower) at the application record level; and support for the distribution of Digital Assets (images) associated with application data

The Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb) is updated monthly and available only by subscription. The database includes fully normalized coded listings of passenger cars and light trucks, medium duty trucks and othermotive applications in the U.S., Mexico and Canada from the current model year back as far as 1896. The ACES VCdb does not include any OE or aftermarket parts information. For information about subscribing to the VCdb click here
